Moon cakes 月饼
Moon cakes,月饼,are traditional to eat during the Mid-Autumn festival. According to old mythodology, the rebels during the Yuan Dynasty hid messages with outlines of attacks in the moon cakes. During that time, the Mongolians were in rule. On the night of the Moon Festival, the rebels attacked the government successfully and the Ming Dynasty was established. Moon cakes are also a symbol to worship the moon god and signifies reunion. Today, different regions in China have developed their own style of moon cakes.
