Chinese Snacks

They have lots of very different snacks here, which we don’t have in Finland or Europe. I have no idea about the content of most of the things I’ve been trying. Most are delicious though! However, the amount of plastic used here is something I really can't understand. 
月饼 Mooncake and 黑芝麻味 flavored sesame pastry

包子，pastry dough filled with either veggies, meat or tofu

Pick'n'mix snacks with mooncakes, red bean cake, fruit rolls colored sesame pastries and weird chocolate

Ice creams and blue Pepsi

Ice cream with coconut and chocolate taste

Journey to Xiamen 厦门

We, Elena, Weronika, Bill and I, got up really early this morning to leave off towards Xiamen. The railway station 杭州东站 was really full since this was the beginning of the Golden Week, where nearly all Chinese have a week of holidays, starting from the National Day on October 1st. The train to Xiamen took 7 hours. Well arrived in Xiamen, we took the metro and a bus towards our hostel. The hostel was really nice. We had a room for four and even a bathroom with a proper shower. So luxurious! In the evening we went out for dinner and to explore the neighborhood next to our hostel. The neighborhood has lots of cats living on the street and the district around our hostel was kind of hipster with lots of colors and cat decorations. For dinner I tried something typical for Xiamen, 厦门海蛎煎 Xiamen oyster fry. I didn't really understand what I ordered because on the picture it looked like a Pizza. In fact it was an omelette with lots of oysters. Interesting combo... ...

Mid-Autumn Festival 仲秋节

The Mid-Autumn Festival,  仲秋节 ， is the second biggest traditional Chinese festival and is celebrated on the 15th August of the lunar calendar. On this holiday usually families gather, enjoy the full moon, light some lanterns, eat some moon cakes, drink tea. The festival was originally a harvest festival. The mythological story can be read here .  In the evening when the darkness falls, people light lanterns making the environment very cosy and beautiful.  I spent the Mid-Autumn Festival  中秋节 first joining a hike to a nearby hill organized by a ”Bitcoin and Coding” student organization here at the university. On the hill we had some snacks and played some games. All the others were Chinese, except for Weronika and me, and we got to practice our Chinese a lot. We were kinda, just by mistake, taken into this hike event since we just passed their stand a few days ago and they asked us to join. 我的中国家 My Zhejiang Family in China

I am grateful that I've met these people here in Zhejiang University <3  Bill (Germany), Elery (USA), Riccardo (Italy), Simu (Germany/Korea), Weronika (Poland), Claudia (Italy), Michael (USA) & Elena (Italy) in Elery's and Michaels new apartment. Here we have holidays, "The Golden Week", 1-7.10 due to the National day of China on 1st of October. Will be traveling the whole week with these people.
