Exchange to Hangzhou

In the evening, after classes, homework, studying and dinner, I met up with a Chinese friend, Summer. We met at the optics experiment. Summer wants to improve her English and I want to practice Chinese. In addition, we get along well. She suggested to go out for 奶茶，milk tea, which is a big thing here in China. I had never tried that before so I was keen on trying it out. In practice this means that you order at a stand a drink, usually a tea or fruit flavored drink often served with milk. In addition you can choose between several additional toppings, 珍珠 (pearls, tapioca starch balls), 波霸 (bubbles, bigger tapioca starch balls), 仙草 (grass jelly), 椰果 (nata de coco, jelly made from fermented coconut water), 红豆 (red beans), 布丁 (pudding)，冰淇淋 (ice cream), 奶霜 (milk frosting?), 燕麦 (oats) and 去糖改密 (liquid honey?). Hangzhou  杭州 ist berühmt für seinen grünen tee und südwestlich der Stadt gibt es grosse Teeplantationen. Wir entschieden uns Spontan beim Mittagessen mit Elena (Italien), Aaron (Schweiz) und Michael (Deutschland) heute einen Ausflug zu den Teeplantationen zu machen. Claudia (Italien) ist dann auch mitgekommen. Zu erst haben wir uns mit dem lokalen veröffentlichen Verkehr zu den Teeplantationen orientiert und dann haben wir eine Wanderung im Gebiet gemacht. Es war richtig heiss draussen und sogar im Schatten hat man geschwitzt wie verrückt. Alle waren ziemlich müde nach diesem Ausflug. Aber die Wanderung hat sich echt gelohnt und die Aussichten waren unglaublich!

En söndag morgon åkte Elena och jag till Wuzhen för att träffa några kinesiska kompisar vi lärde känna kort på en klubb förra helgen. De bjöd in oss för lite Sightseeing till deras hemstad, Wuzhen  乌镇 . Det var bra övning för att lära sig mera om den lokala kollektiva trafiken. Först åkte vi med buss till Hangzhou West tågstation  杭州东站 , därifrån vi sedan åkte vidare med snabbtåg till Tongxiang  桐乡 . I Tongxiang, mötte ett par av våra kompisar oss och sedan åkte vi med bil till Wuzhen.  I Wuzhen väntade ännu ett par kompisar på oss och sedan åkte vi på tur i gamla delen av staden. De hade till och med fixat en engelskatalande privat guide för oss. Först åkte med en vagn och gick på lunch. Det var inte vilken som helst lunch. Vi fick en massa olika små rätter och det hämtades hela tiden mera. Vi fick smaka på allt möjligt spännande och gott. Mätta och belåtna började vi en tur i staden med guiden.  Wuzhen är som Kinas lilla  Venedig.

今天下午跟 Claudia, Elena, Weronika, Bill, Ricky  和 Simu   去过看杭州市中心走路和买东西。坐地铁去过市民中心看夕阳和摩天大楼的灯。景色非常漂亮。 然后去过吃饭。我吃了雪菜酥鸡面。我不知道了我点了什么。幸亏是的很好吃！

They have lots of very different snacks here, which we don’t have in Finland or Europe. I have no idea about the content of most of the things I’ve been trying.  Most are delicious  though! On mennyt niin monta päivää, että Elenalla ja minulla alkoi olla hieman paniikki pyykinpesun kanssa. Koska meillä ei vieläkään ole kiinalaista pankkitiliä, maksaminen joka puolella on vielä hieman haastavaa ja pyykkitupaa varten pitäisi olla Alipay. Onneksi meillä on kavereita, joilla on Alipay joten saimme pyykit pestyä. Tältä näyttää meidän hieno tulos, joka oli sekoitus epätoivoisuutta ja kreatiivisuutta.  J

Moon cakes, 月饼， are traditional to eat during the Mid-Autumn festival. According to old mythodology, the rebels during the Yuan Dynasty hid messages with outlines of attacks in the moon cakes. During that time, the Mongolians were in rule. On the night of the Moon Festival, the rebels attacked the government successfully and the Ming Dynasty was established. Moon cakes are also a symbol to worship the moon god and signifies reunion.
